Pay attention to how long they hold their chips – short-stacked players are desperate for a good hand and are easier to bluff against. Conversely, aggressive players often bet high early in a hand and can be difficult to read. In addition to observing their betting patterns, watch how they react to the cards they receive. By keeping a file of hands, you can build up a library that will help you quickly develop instincts for the game.
