There are several variations of the game of Poker. The highest pair wins when two players have the same number of high cards. The high card also wins when two players have the same number of pairs. If a tie occurs, the high card breaks the tie, and a high pair means three cards of the same rank. When there are more than 10 players, two separate games may be played. Detailed rules about all the variations of Poker are listed in the next section.
The game can be played with any number of players, although six to eight players is the most ideal. Each player receives five cards. These cards are called “the hand”. A player may win the pot if he has the highest ranking poker hand or if he bets without getting a call. A pair of kings is not a bad hand and can increase a player’s chances of winning a hand. The game is played by betting, and each player is dealt five cards.
The game begins by setting up the cards. The cards are dealt face-up until the jack appears. The player who receives the jack becomes the first dealer. Then, the turn to deal and bet passes from player to player. During the betting round, players can shuffle the cards. However, the dealer has the last say. Players earn points when they reveal their hands and collect the units of royalty. In the end, the player with the highest hand wins the pot.
